Drum Corp is a musical education company redesigning the future of music fused with sport.

We are hiring instructors to teach kids through an ‘out of the box’ musical education style.

 

About us:

Drum Corp have reinvented how to teach music, and have created the most insanely fun way to learn music. We integrate rhythm, dance & fitness to create an educational atmosphere that sparks the spirit. After resounding success in the Hunter Valley, Newcastle and Central Coast areas, we are continuing to expand our troupe of instructors along the East Coast of Australia. We are looking for super heroes who are fun, enthusiastic, highly energetic people that live from the heart, enjoy staying fit, and are well organised.

We are the Harlem Globe Trotters of music education, as our brand fuses music ed with fun, high energy, high impact entertainment. Currently, we are looking for talent in North Sydney, Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs, Central Coast, Newcastle and Maitland regions.

 

How We Do It:

We teach kids to play by ear, so you don’t need to know how to read music. The combination of our virtual and in-person training program will have you “Instructor Ready” so you can become part of the future of music education. Depending on your location, we will have regular classes to teach from January 2020.

 

We are seeking program instructors who:

  • Love connecting with children

  • Are organised, efficient, and ready to break a sweat

  • Have great interpersonal skills and are able to manage, lead and motivate

  • Can think on their feet in any situation, driven by heart and intuition 

  • Have initiative and drive to contribute to a growing creative company

  • Can understand and work towards our company vision

  • Have excellent verbal communication skills

  • Have a solid foundation of rhythm and/or dance

  • Want to play an integral part in creating a fresh, healthy culture

  • Are able to work: 5 weekdays during school terms (9.00 - 3.00 p.m.). (School Holiday periods used for running workshops, extra training, and a slice of rest)

  • Are receptive to our new learning method and philosophy

  • Have a licence to drive

  • Ideally have a dance background, or you know in your bones how music moves every cell in your body.

EMPLOYEE STUFF:

+ Company Car (Value 20K per year)- must be used within Company Policy limits

+ Fuel Levy (Business fuel is covered by Drum Corp)

+ iPad & iPhone supplied (for work purposes only)

+ 1 x Uniform Accessories Pack supplied - Extra Clothing must be in accordance with our Company image Policy

*5 Days a Week (Tuesday-Friday = structured lessons + Monday =Make-ups/Training/Creative projects/meetings)

+ School holiday periods = 1 week off + 2nd week for Workshops & Training (as required)

*Social Media - As you will be working with children, posts and settings on your personal pages will have to be regulated according to our Social Media Policy.

*Commitment to our annual Super Jam + Junior Jam + extra creative projects

*Disclosure Clause

  • Holidays - All Holiday’s are required to be taken within the designated week off during school holidays

  • This is not a ‘transient’ role- 2 year commitment

 

Your role includes:

  • Leading group classes as the Instructor of our unique energised music program (rhythm + sport + dance + music)

  • Creating fun and exciting musical environments

  • Interacting and engaging effectively with children

  • Delivering our specified program to children from 6-12 years of age

  • Effectively managing behavioural issues that arise in class (as per our unique approach)

  • Collaborating with other Drum Corp Instructors, Admin team & Creative Directors

  • Driving between multiple school locations

  • Managing program equipment within schools

  • Taking leadership and management over your specific role for our ‘Jam’ Events

  • Communicating via letters to our international sponsor children

  • Documenting photo/video moments for Drum Corp social media

  • Communication with School Administrations & staff
